John Bachtler was an invited speaker at the formation-regiosuisse-Conference 2015 on the New Regional Policy 2016+ in Switzerland held in Thun on 5-6 November.
His presentation on Trends in EU Cohesion Policy 2014-20, provided an overview of the budgetary context and spatial coverage of the reformed Cohesion policy and focused on several key changes relating to strategic coherence, thematic concentration, results orientation, integrated territorial development, financial instruments and macro-economic conditionalities. The presentation drew on EPRC research conducted under the EoRPA research programme which is funded by government authorities in 11 European countries including the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs in Switzerland.
