Studies by EPRC researchers have been extensively cited in a briefing to MEPs by the European Parliament.
The briefing refers to an IQ-Net report on territorial approaches which provides a first stock-take on the implementation of territorial approaches across the EU 28 and gives insights into the variety in which these approaches are used. The briefing also cited an article in the European Structural and Investment Funds journal which highlights the versatility of the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) tool and considers some of the key challenges in relation to administrative and institutional capacity, territorial competitiveness, limited scale of resource allocations, and ambiguities in relation to implementation requirements.
A study for European Parliament on strategic coherence of Cohesion policy is also cited. The study found that there have been overall improvements compared to the previous period, but it also highlights a series of EU and domestic challenges in ensuring a strategically coherent approach between different European Structural and Investment Funds, as well as with other EU policies.
