New project: 'The Territorial Effects of Applying the EU "Acquis" and Community Policies as well as Pre-Accession Aid and PHARE' (ESPON programme, measure 2.2.2)

01 January 2003

EPRC, as part of a European research group led by German partner institute the Institute for Regional Development and Structural Planning (and comprising researchers from institutes in Hungary, Poland, Greece, Germany and Denmark) has been awarded a contract to analyse the territorial effects of pre-accession aid and adoption of the "Acquis".

The project, which runs until 2005, deals with the Territorial Impact Assessment of past pre-accession aid programmes and with the appraisal of the potential territorial impact of future Structural Fund and pre-accession aid programmes.

The study is being undertaken with a view to formulating policy recommendations for the reform of the funds for the post 2006 period and to improving their capacity of delivering enhanced territorial cohesion. Further details on the project are available from Dr. Hans Joachim Kujath at the Institute for Regional Development and Structural Planning and from the website of the ESPON Coordination Unit.
