EPRC in the North Atlantic

01 January 2004

Related to EPRC's long-standing involvement in the regional development cooperation between Scotland and the Nordic countries, John Bachtler attended a board meeting of the North Atlantic Cooperation in the Faroe Islands, in order to discuss experiences of inter-regional and transnational networking and cooperation.

Established by the Nordic Council of Ministers, the North Atlantic Cooperation involves Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and coastal Norway with the aim of improving the framework and conditions for industry, trade and development in the Nordic Atlantic Region.

John Bachtler's presentation focused in particular on the lessons of Nordic-Scottish cooperation, both at policy levels and at programme/project levels as reported previously in a joint Nordregio/EPRC study Transnational Nordic-Scottish Cooperation: Lessons for Policy and Practice.
