New study: EU proposals for the regional competitiveness and employment objective

10 March 2005

EPRC is part of a consortium which has been awarded a study by DG Regio to assist the European Commission in drawing up policy guidelines for regions falling under the proposed regional competitiveness and employment objective (the 'new Objective 2') for the 2007-2013 period.

The study which is being led by the Centre for Industrial Studies in Milan, also involves the Fraser of Allander Institute (Strathclyde) and the Department of Management & Industrial Organisation at Marches Polytechnic University, Ancona. During the one-year project, the study team will undertake a combination of statistical analyses and fieldwork interviews with policymakers across the EU, to assess the potential and priorities for EU intervention in support of innovation and the knowledge economy, environment and risk prevention and access to transport and telecoms infrastructure, in line with the Lisbon and Gothenburg objectives.
