New paper: Structural Funds and territorial cohesion

10 March 2005

Laura Polverari and John Bachtler have recently published an article examining the contribution of European Structural Funds to territorial cohesion.

In the context of the proposals in the draft Consitutional Treaty for the EU to have a competence for promoting territorial cohesion, and the draft Regulations for the future of EU cohesion policy, territorial cohesion is receiving increased attention.

The paper examines how territorial issues have been incorporated within Structural Fund programme strategies over successive time periods, and provides some reflections about the future of territorial cohesion within EU cohesion policy. The paper is published in Town Planning Review Vol. 76(1), 2005, pp.29-42, Special Issue on European territorial cohesion edited by Andreas Faludi, Liverpool University Press.
