John Bachtler was invited to present European experiences with strategic regional development planning at the Swedish Conference on the National Strategy for Regional Development, held in Stockholm on 25 January 2006.
Organised by the Swedish Ministry of Industry, Employment and Communications for national and regional politicians and officials, the Conference brought together the results of six regional consultation exercises with a view to determining the strategic objectives and priorities for Structural Funds in Sweden in the 2007-2013 period.
The presentation by John Bachtler, drawing on recent IQ-Net research, showed how other EU Member States are drawing up their National Strategic Reference Frameworks and the likely priorities in the next programme period.
