Special Issue of 'Regional Studies' on the evaluation of EU Cohesion policy

01 May 2006

Professor John Bachtler is co-editor (with Professor Colin Wren, Newcastle University) of a Special Issue of Regional Studies which has just been published on 'The Evaluation of EU Cohesion Policy'.

Containing 15 articles, the Special Issue examines the different conceptual and methodological approaches to the evaluation of Structural and Cohesion Funds programmes, drawing on the perspectives of academics and policymakers from across Europe.

The publication is introduced by a review of evaluation research questions and policy challenges, written by John Bachtler and Colin Wren, which discusses the evolution of EU Cohesion policy evaluation, the different methods utilised, the credibility of evaluation results, and the differences in evaluation practice among the EU Member States. Further information on the Special Issue can found on the Regional Studies Association website http://www.regional-studies-assoc.ac.uk/publications/crsa.asp
