22 February 2007

John Bachtler has contributed a chapter to a new book on technology policy in Austria.

Published in German by the Institute for Technology & Regional Policy (Joanneum Research), the book presents a new technology policy concept for the Austrian Land of Steiermark (Styria).

John Bachtler's chapter on innovation and European regional policy examines the evolution of regional innovation policy at EU level, focusing on the role of the Structural Funds in supporting innovation in the 1989-93, 1994-99 and 2000-06 periods and drawing out lessons for the future of EU regional policy.  Book details: Technologiepolitisches Konzept II Steiermark, edited by Michael Steiener, Markus Gruber abd Kristina Zumbusch, Schriftenreihe des Institutes fur Technologie- und Regionalpolitik der Joanneum Research, Band 7, Leykam.
