New project: evaluating cooperation in the Northern Periphery

06 August 2009

EPRC has won a competitive tender to evaluate the 2007-13 Northern Periphery Programme, an EU-funded initiative to promote territorial cooperation among the Nordic countries, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland.

Led by Dr Irene McMaster, the study will provide an external perspective on the Programme with a view to improving and strengthening its performance, optimising the allocation of Programme resources, and assisting the Programme authorities to prepare future operations.

The research builds on the long-standing EPRC expertise on regional development in the peripheral regions of north-western Europe, and specifically evaluation and other research on the effectiveness and efficiency of transnational cooperation initiatives.
