27 August 2010

On 26 August, EPRC hosted a study visit by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. Led by Director-General Goran Theolin, the party of 13 officials were visiting Scotland to learn about the management and implementation of Structural Funds.

EPRC organised the study visit, involving presentations by the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and ESEP Ltd, together with a project visit to Castlemilk Stables. The visit was introduced by a series of briefings from John Bachtler and Martin Ferry and discussions on the effectiveness of Cohesion policy across the EU, the debate on reforming Cohesion policy, and the political and institutional context for the management and implementation of Structural Funds in Scotland.

The aim of the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth - Tillvaxtverket - is to work to achieve more enterprises, growing enterprises and sustainable, competitive business and industry throughout Sweden. The Agency employs around 300 staff and is headquartered in Stockholm.
