EPRC knowledge exchange with policymakers in Poland

09 March 2011

EPRC research on regional policy in Europe was presented to a large audience of national and regional policymakers at a conference organised by the Polish Ministry of Regional Development on 14th February.

Drawing on the research conducted under the EoRPA Research Programme, Professor John Bachtler and Dr Martin Ferry presented two papers relating to the implications of the crisis for regional disparities in Europe, recent developments in conceptual thinking about regional policy, and the design and delivery of policy in EU Member States.

A paper on the state-of-play of the debate on reforming Cohesion policy was also presented. The Polish Ministry of Regional Development is one of 11 European government authorities that collectively fund a long-running EPRC research programme involving comparative research on regional policies in Europe.
