New EPRC Project: Arctic Dimension in the Northern Periphery

07 March 2013

EPRC in partnership with Integritas Liaison will carry out a project for Highlands and Islands Enterprise on the 'Arctic Dimension of the Northern Periphery'.

As a result of climate change, the Arctic offers new opportunities for economic development associated with resource exploitation, maritime transport and research but also challenges of environmental pollution, damage to natural habitats and indigenous communities.

The project will consider how Arctic or Arctic-relevant themes could be pursued under the auspices of the Northern Periphery Programme, which includes the Highlands and Islands as well as other areas of Scotland.

The project will engage with key stakeholders in Scotland , Ireland and Northern Ireland and explore how they view the emerging opportunities in this area and could engage with Arctic-related issues and themes.

More information available on our project page.
