Meeting of the European Directors General of Higher Education

23 April 2013

David Charles was invited to speak at the Irish Presidency meeting convened for Directors General of Higher Education in Dublin on the 22nd April. The focus of the meeting was on regional engagement of higher education and a number of presentations were made on the benefits, measurement and initiatives in engagement.

David Charles' presentation focused on the measurement of engagement and the limitations of quantitative metrics, with an alternative approach using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative indicators in a benchmarking framework. The presentation also used UK examples to show how engagement can be supported through government and university actions.
