EPRC in the Scottish Government’s Steering Group developing Scotland’s Arctic Policy Framework

11 December 2018

EPRC’s Irene McMaster and Heidi Vironen have been taking part in the Scottish Government’s Steering Group established to develop an Arctic Policy Framework for Scotland. The Steering Group discussions, which are chaired by the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop, draw a number of experts to discuss issues that are relevant for Scotland in its future Arctic Policy Framework.

Participation at the Steering Group is a recognition of EPRC’s reputation and research expertise involving the Northern European / Arctic countries (especially Norway, Sweden and Finland). In 2014, EPRC hosted a major international conference on ‘Arctic Connections’ focussing on regional cooperation networks in an around the Arctic. EPRC has continued working on the Arctic dimension in the territorial cooperation context, most notably through the evaluation work of the Northern Periphery and the Arctic Programme.

EPRC will update developments on its research related to the Arctic through the news items.
