EPRC Scholarship for Brazilian student to undertake PhD in regional development/policy

03 October 2013

The European Policies Research Centre, School of Government and Public Policy, University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (United Kingdom) has a scholarship fund which is intended to support the postgraduate education of a Brazilian student in the field of regional development/policy. It would provide a subsidy of 25% of the overall costs (tuition fee and stipend) of a student to study full time at the Centre in order to attain a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) degree.

The PhD is expected to take three years of full time study and would normally cost £86,500 for a full-time international student (£28,300 per year). The recipient would have to meet the remaining 75% of these costs. The Centre is keen to attract a highly qualified student of Brazilian nationality, with good knowledge of the English language (IELTS 7.0 or equivalent), with an undergraduate degree in regional economics, economic geography, political science, public policy, human geography or cognate discipline, who might either be an existing student who has just completed their undergraduate/Master education or a government official looking to acquire an academic qualification.

The subject matter of the PhD is open for discussion but the PhD should promote learning between Brazil and Europe on regional development issues. Potential applicants should send their CV, a short research outline (max 2,500 words) and a personal statement, containing information on academic and career interests, range of skills, abilities and relevant experience and showing awareness and interest in the proposed subject area, to Dr. Sara Davies, EPRC post-graduate coordinator, by 31 January 2014.
