New publication on devolution in Italy and the UK

20 October 2013

A new article by Laura Polverari, of EPRC, and Professor James Mitchell, Edinburgh University, has just been published in Polis. The article - entitled "Devoluzione e partecipazione: Italia e Regno Unito a confronto" (Devolution and Participation: Italy and the United Kingdom compared) - deals with the topic of citizens' disillusionment with the State, the institutions and the party system and the extent to which the constitutional and institutional reforms of the late 1990s, by devolving power and competences from the centre to the periphery, have been able to establish a better relationship between governed and governors and, as a consequence, whether they have contributed to reabsorb the disjuncture between citizens and institutions.

The article can be accessed here.
