European Cohesion policy and the assessment of its long-term achievements - a short video by Observa DR

13 December 2013

This video of Laura Polverari, shot during her visit to Brazil for the Sixth International Conference on Regional Development organised by the University of Santa Cruz do Sul and the Observatory on regional development (Santa Cruz do Sul, 4-6 September 2013), illustrates the main reseach activities of EPRC and the ambitions of the recently concluded evaluation of the long-term achievements of ERDF programmes, undertaken for DG Regio.

For a number of years EPRC has been engaging in the promotion of policy learning, transfer and diffusion with Brazil and other non-EU countries, such as China and Russia, in the belief that both European Cohesion policy can provide useful lessons for non EU-Member States and EU Member States can learn from the policy approaches adopted outside the EU.

This belief and these knowledge exchange initiatives have led to new research being undertaken on the conceptual and empirical aspects of policy transfer and cross-national policy diffusion and convergence, and their possible application to the operation of policy networks.
