EPRC co-organiser of one day seminar by SVIMEZ in Rome on Cohesion policy in the EU

04 April 2016

Laura Polverari, of EPRC, collaborated with SVIMEZ and, in particular with Professor Manin Carabba and Agnese Claroni (editor in Chief and editor of the Rivista Giuridica del Mezzogiorno), for the realisation of a one-day conference on European Cohesion policy in the European Union, which was held in Rome on March 31st.

The seminar was opened by introductions from Professor Carabba and Vincenzo Donato, Head of the newly established Cabina di Regia, and it was closed by a summing-up session from Fabrizio Barca, former Minister of the Italian Republic and author of the so-called 'Barca Report'. Other speakers included: Antonio La Spina (LUISS University), Francesco Prota (University of Bari), Ugo Fratesi (Politecnico di Milano), Nicola Dotti (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), Rosella Vitale (Invitalia), Rocco Bubbico (EIB), Mara Giua (Universita' Roma Tre and Centro Rossi Doria), Giuseppe Provenzano (SVIMEZ), Michele D'Ercole (Italian Agency for Cohesion), Alessandro Rainoldi (European Commission, JRC/IPTS), Giuseppe Soriero (SVIMEZ, Observatory on the Regions), and Mita Marra (University of Salerno and President of the Italian Evaluation Society).

Laura Polverari provided an overview of the regional policies of the 28 EU member states, Norway and Switzerland, based on research from the EoRPA research programme. Other presentations ranged from empirical analyses of the drivers of growth and impact of the crisis, to smart specialisation strategies across the EU and the role of evaluation in the implementation of Italian regional policy. PowerPoint presentations and podcasts can be found here.
