Environmental integration and regional policy

24 February 2006

John Bachtler presented a paper on 'Regional Development and Environmental Integration under EU and National Regional Policies' at a seminar of the INTERREG IIIC network 'Greening Regional Development Programmes (GRDP)' in Exeter, UK, on 23 February 2006.

The seminar aimed to develop understanding of the way in which the environment is a driver of regional economies, especially in the context of the Lisbon and Gothenburg agendas.

John Bachtler's paper examined how the environment has been integrated into the 2000-2006 Structural Fund programmes and the likely environmental priorities for 2007-2013, as well as the different ways that environmental integration has been managed under national regional policies.
