Presenting lessons from Scottish experience of innovation and entrepreneurship

07 December 2007

Charlie Woods, Visiting Professor at EPRC, presented the Scottish policy experience of innovation and entrepreneurship at two recent international conferences. 'Solidarity and competitiveness : European regions towards the challenges of globalisation' was the theme of a conference organised by the Committee of the Regions and Pomorskie Voivodeship on 20 November, which was opened by CoR Vice-President Luc van den Brande, Lech Walesa and Commissioner Danuta Hübner, and where Charlie spoke on the subject 'Stimulating and sustaining economic development in the innovation economy : examples of good practice from Scotland'.

The second conference took place on 27 November in Berlin, organised by the OECD LEED Programme and the German Federal Ministry of Housing, Land, Construction, Transport and Urban Affairs under the title  'Perspectives on Strengthening Entrepreneurship in East Germany' and where Charlie presented a paper on 'Regional strategies to foster entrepreneurship - the Scottish example'.
