Celebrating the ESRC Festival of Social Science on the Isle of Lewis

23 March 2010

Sara Davies of EPRC and Jillian MacBryde of the Department of Management Science asked school students on the Isle of Lewis their views on whether people living in rural areas are more innovative than people in urban areas, at a debate at the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway on 19 March 2010.

The debate linked to an ongoing study on the kinds of innovation seen in peripheral regions, as well as on the types of innovation policy support needed in these areas (see here).

The event was held as part of the 2010 ESRC Festival of Social Science and was also coordinated with the first Hebridean Science and Technology Festival, organised by ESTEEM, a local community organisation based in Stornoway.
