EPRC research presented to the European Parliament

29 June 2010

During June, EPRC research on EU Cohesion policy was presented to the European Parliament at two meetings of the Regional Development (REGI) Committee in Brussels.

On 3 June 2010, Professor John Bachtler was one of four academic and policy experts invited to participate in the REGI Committee discussion on the future of Cohesion policy after 2013; he highlighted some of the institutional deficiencies of the policy, basing his contribution on recent EPRC evaluation research on the management and implementation of the Structural Funds.

John Bachtler was also an invited expert at the REGI Committee meeting on 21 June to discuss the simplification of Cohesion policy.

This contribution was based on a paper for the European Parliament, drafted together with Carlos Mendez, which provided a review and assessment of recent simplification measures and discussed future simplification options after 2013.
