John Bachtler presented with the Sir Peter Hall Award by the Regional Studies Association

08 October 2010

Professor John Bachtler has been presented with the Sir Peter Hall Award for his contribution to the field of regional studies. Awarded each year by the Regional Studies Association, the award was presented to John Bachtler by Sir Peter Hall at the 2010 President's Lunch at the Ritz Hotel in London on 1 October.

Following the award, Professor David Bailey, Chair of the Regional Studies Association said: 'This prestigious award is a very welcome recognition of Professor John Bachtler's outstanding contribution over many years to the field of regional studies.

John has been at the forefront of analysis of regional policy and practice and has been, and continues to be - a role model for many academics. He continues not only to undertake world class research but also to build links with policy makers and to engage in knowledge exchange. This is becoming increasingly important for academia, but John has been doing this for many years together with his colleagues in the European Policies Research Centre.

Colleagues in the field are genuinely delighted by this award to John, which reflects the high esteem in which he is held'.
