EPRC knowledge exchange with policymakers in Madeira

01 July 2011

Carlos Mendez was an invited speaker at a conference on 'Europe and the regions: present and future perspectives' in Madeira on 29 June, organised by the regional government, the Managing Authority of Cohesion policy (the IDR) and the NSRF Observatory.

The Secretary of State for Education and Culture (Francisco Fernandes) and the head of the Managing Authority (Silvio Costa) gave presentations on the current situation of Cohesion policy in Madeira at this mid-term juncture. Professor Augusto Mateus, former Minister of Economy, gave a presentation on trends in the European and global economy and the challenges for Portuguese regions.

Carlos' presentation focused on the future of Cohesion policy post-2013, followed by a question and answer session with the audience and panel discussion with the coordinator and deputy coordinator (Paulo Areosa and Duarte Rodrigues) of the NSRF Observatory.
