Welcome to Visiting Professor Dr Andrew Goudie!

Dr Andrew Goudie, Scotland's top economic adviser in the Scottish Government has been appointed as a Visiting Professor in the School of Government & Public Policy, of which the European Policies Research Centre is part.

Andrew Goudie will contribute to debate and research on the Scottish economy and policy as well as helping to develop Strathclyde's internationalisation strategy. He will work with colleagues across the University and also provide strategic advice and support to the Principal and the University Executive Team.

Before joining the then Scottish Office in 1990, Dr Goudie was a Research Officer at the Department of Applied Economics at Cambridge University and a College Fellow. He then joined the World Bank in Washington as a Senior Economist. In 1995, he worked as a Principal Economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris and in 1996 became the Chief Economist for the Overseas Development Administration / Department for International Development.

He rejoined the Scottish Government in 1999 and held the posts of Director-General for the Economy and Chief Economic Adviser up to 31 July 2011.
