Debating multi-level governance at the EU-China High-Level Seminar

19 October 2011

John Bachtler was an invited speaker at the 6th EU-China High-Level Seminar on Regional Policy on the subject of 'Multi-level Governance and Support to Priority Areas in Regional Policy' held as part of the Open Days in Brussels on 13 October 2011.

The seminar was arranged under the auspices of the EU-China cooperation agreement involving the exchange of experience on regional policy and was used to launch a comparative study on regional policy in the EU and China. John Bachtler's presentation reviewed the origins of the concept of multi-level governance and its practical application in national and EU regional policies, as well as experiences and lessons of multi-level governance working over the past two decades.
