The future of regional policy in Thuringia, eastern Germany

09 March 2012

Dr Sara Davies of EPRC was invited to speak to Thuringia's Land Ministry for the Economy, Technology and Employment in Erfurt, Germany on 6 March 2012.

She gave a presentation to around sixty representatives of Land ministries on the future of EU regional policies and on possible lessons from other European regions for economic development strategy-building and implementation in Thuringia.

Key issues discussed concerned European Commission proposals for the future of Cohesion policy, not least on Fund/thematic ring-fencing and on stronger results orientation via a performance framework, as well as possible reforms of the Regional Aid Guidelines from 2014.
