Knowledge exchange with the European Parliament

12 March 2012

John Bachtler and Carlos Mendez were invited speakers at the European Parliament's hearing of 20 March 2012 on the reform of Cohesion policy to discuss how to improve the policy's effectiveness through simplification and a stronger results orientation.

The presentations drew on the preliminary results of a forthcoming study by Carlos Mendez, John Bachtler and Fiona Wishlade, commissioned by the Regional Development (REGI) Committee and Policy Studies department of the European Parliament to provide recommendations to inform its negotiating stance on the legislative package for 2014-2020.
