EPRC lecture in Italy on European Cohesion Policy Between Equity, Austerity and Re-launch: Results and Prospects

05 April 2013

Dr Laura Polverari delivered a guest lecture at the Universita  dei Saperi in Fano (Italy) on 3 April, in front of a vast, non-specialist audience on the theme of European Cohesion policy.

Following an introduction by the Universita  dei Saperi's President, Professor Paola Fazi, Laura illustrated the policy's history and evolution, its results, the reasons for the disappointing performance in Italy in the period 2000 to date, and the reform of the policy for the forthcoming 2014-2020 period.

The high participation in the initiative and lively Q&A session which followed the presentation demonstrated that there is still a strong interest in this policy (and, more generally, in the European Union) amongst the Italian public, notwithstanding the impact of the economic crisis and the anti-European sentiments that it has contributed to generate.
