A Finnish group of regional mayors visited EPRC on 26 June 2013. They attended four sessions on a variety of themes, which are shaping current debates in Scotland and elsewhere in Europe:
- an overview of progress with preparing for the 2014-20 Structural Funds period, delivered by Carlos Mendez from EPRC;
- a review of local government reform in Scotland given by Malcolm Leitch, Principal Officer at Glasgow City Council;
- insights in the role of Financial Instruments for Economic Development presented by Martin Hughes, visiting professor at EPRC;
- an intervention on learning cities given by John Tibbitt, Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Glasgow University School of Education.
The visit was concluded by a visit of Whitelee windfarm the following morning.
