Glasgow City-Region Deal: Multilevel perspectives

09 July 2020

On July 9th EPRC hosted a webinar on the Glasgow City-Region Deal. This is a potentially transformative initiative that combines long-term funding from UK, Scottish and local administrations (including key strategic infrastructure projects), focusing on the functional urban area, and incentivising cooperation across jurisdictions. The webinar included  from different levels involved in implementing the Deal: Rebecca Hackett (Deputy Director and Head of Policy Division with the UK Government in Scotland) and Richard Cairns (Strategic Director for Regeneration at West Dunbartonshire Council). The presentations and subsequent discussion reflected on the Deal’s achievements so far and the challenges it faces in terms of coordination, capacity and building consensus. There was also a focus on the role of the Deal in responding to the COVID crisis. Rebecca's presentation is available here. Richard's presentation is available here.

The webinar is available to view on YouTube here.
