The project comnprised an ex ante evaluation accompanying the design of the 2014-2020 North Sea Region Programme and appraisal of its different elements.

This project examined territorial cooperation in the EU and its neighbourhood, asking what role cooperation has in ensuring the sustainable development of territorial units. The project covered 52 cross-border and 13 transnational cooperation areas as well as macro-regions such as the Baltic Sea Region. By considering the common characteristics of regions, critical mass and possible fields of cooperation, the project identified those regions that are most appropriate for territorial cooperation. The project also highlighted cases of good practice and general lessons that could be transferred or applied to other cooperation areas.

The project involved research contributions to the OECD territorial review of the NORA region, involving the development of report sections on territorial cooperation in the region and chapters on fisheries and the environment.

The project involved a study of administrative costs associacted with Cohesion policy implementation, focusing on the UK and Ireland as part of EU-wide research.

The project comprised the on-going evaluation of the Northern Periphery Programme, including a review of progress, the impact of the economic crisis on the programme area and programmme and develop options and recommendations to further promote the effective and efficient management and implementation of the programme.

The project involved contributions to the OECD territorial review of the NORA region, specifically preparing submissions on territorial cooperation in the region and research on fisheries and environmental policy.

This study involved an ex post evaulation of the management and implementation systems for the ERDF in Objective 1 and 2 programmes in 2000-6, across 25 EU Member States.

The project involved research on regional development in Central and Eastern Europe.

The project comprised an evaluation of the potential for regional policy instruments (2007-13) to contribute to the Lisbon and Gothenburg objectives for growth, jobs and sustainable development. It focused on the role of the Operational Programmes for the 2007-13 period, and their relationship to the National Sustainable Reference Frameworks, as well as the National Reform Programmes and National Sustainable Development Strategies for the operationalisation of the Lisbon and Gothenburg agendas at national level.

The project comprised the ex ante evaluation of the IPA Operational Programmes (OPs) for Environment, Transport, Regional Competitiveness and Human Resource Development for Croatia (2007-09). The study involved stablishing the evaluation frameworks, assessing each of the programmes and critically evaluating the final programme drafts.
