Professor John Bachtler and Dr Martin Ferry are the authors of three chapters in a new book on 'The Theory and Practice of Evaluation of Public Interventions' published in Poland.
Reflecting the fast-growing development of evaluation research and policy in Poland, the Polish-book is a state-of-the-art assessment of evaluation science and practice, focusing in particular on the field of regional development.
The chapter by John Bachtler is on 'The Evaluation of Regional Policy in Europe: Culture, Capacity and Commitment' and examines the development of evaluation in different EU countries and the variations in culture and practice. Under a section assessing the evaluation of programme impacts and broader results, Martin Ferry contributed a case study chapter on the 'Mid term Evaluation of the Highland and Islands Special Transitional Programme 2000-2006' and co-authored a chapter on the 'Ex post evaluation of the Poland-Germany PHARE-CBC Programme 1999-2001'.
