EPRC was well-represented at the Regional Studies Association International Conference 'Regional responses and global shifts: actors, institutions and organisations' in Pecs, Hungary, on 23-26 May, with presentations by both John Bachtler and Stefan Kah.
During the opening plenary session John Bachtler presented a paper 'The Future of Cohesion Policy : Framing the Debate', which discussed shifting EU priorities, the contested evidence for the performance of Cohesion policy and the different concepts put forward on the future of the policy.
Stefan Kah took part in a conference session on regional leadership and presented a paper on 'Austrian regional management offices and endogenous regional development'. The paper reported Stefan's on-going research on the role and characteristics of regional managements in Austria, and questioned whether their recent evolution was strengthening or weakening their ability to implement the model of endogenous regional development.
Further information on the Conference, including the above papers, are available on the RSA Conference website.
