Professor John Bachtler was an invited speaker at an international conference 'European Territorial Cooperation: Experiences and Perspectives' organised by the Polish Ministry of Regional Development in Wroclaw on 25 October 2012.
The aim of the conference was to debate the experiences of European territorial cooperation (ETC) programmes involving Polish and international partners during the 2007-13 period and to discuss the challenges for programming and implementing territorial cooperation programmes in the 2014-20 period. John's presentation was on the topic of 'Cross-border cooperation in the context of Cohesion policy 2014-2020', assessing the progress of the negotiations on ETC and implications of the new regulatory requirements.
The conference also provided an opportunity to present the preliminary results of a study, carried out by EPRC, EGO (lead partner) and OAR for the Ministry of Regional Development which has analysed the experiences of Polish cross-border programmes and developed creative ideas for the next period.
