http://www.eprc.strath.ac.uk/news/eorpa06.jpg <img src="http://www.eprc.strath.ac.uk/news/eorpa06.jpg" width="173" height="103" border="0" align="left The 27th annual meeting of the European Policies Research Centre's EoRPA Research Consortium took place at Strathclyde University's country house, Ross Priory, from 8 to 10 October 2006. The Consortium consists of regional policy departments and agencies from ten European countries which provide funding for comparative research into regional policy developments in Europe undertaken by EPRC. Four main papers were presented at the meeting:
<p> The keynote paper was on recent developments in regional policy across EU25, presented by Douglas Yuill, and building on country reports produced by an EPRC team (Sara Davies, Martin Ferry, Tobias Gross, Frederike Gross, Carlos Méndez, Irene McMaster, Laura Polverari, Heidi Vironen, and associate researchers in Denmark and Greece (Henrik Halkier, George Petrakos and Yannis Psycharis).
<p> A second paper, by Fiona Wishlade, reviewed the outcome of the debate on regional aid guidelines and its implications for Member States.
<p> Cohesion policy developments, notably the new budget and new strategies, was the subject of the third paper, presented by John Bachtler and co-authored together with Fiona Wishlade and Carlos Méndez.
<p> The final paper was on the spatial focus of regional policy, presented by Sara Davies, again building on country research by the above EPRC team.
