The hearing, which took place on 8 November 2007, had the title 'A New Regional Policy: Innovative Ideas for the Post-2013 Reform' and focused on two key questions: how should the Union's cohesion policy adapt to new challenges and maximise its impact? and: what might be the new orientation for cohesion policy? John Bachtler's contribution examined the added value of Cohesion policy, drawing lessons from past experience, the scope for change, and ways to improve the policy focus and management of Cohesion policy.
