<img src="http://www.eprc.strath.ac.uk/news/Calum_Macleod.jpg" width="184" height="103" border="0" align="left On 17 June, EPRC hosted a seminar by Dr Calum Macleod (UHI Centre for Remote and Rural Studies) on 'Function, place and the crofting communities of the future'. The seminar paper sought to apply theoretical communitarian principles to an empirical analysis of the development and regulatory enforcement of crofting law in Scotland, exploring themes such as definitions within crofting, the links between crofting, sustainable development and cultural diversity, and the future regulation of crofting by the Scottish Government. The seminar was part of a wider discussion of research by EPRC and the UHI Centre for Remote and Rural Studies on the future of rural areas and the identification of possible themes for collaborative work.
