EPRC's 2019 European Policy Seminar Series welcomed Dr Eva Kleinert, who is a Senior Social Researcher with the Rural & Environmental Science and Analytical Services department at the Scottish Government. Eva presented the findings of her recent evaluation of the EU LEADER (2014-2020) programme in Scotland.
Eva explained that the EU funded LEADER programme aims to support local rural communities and business networks to build knowledge and skills, and encourage innovation and cooperation in order to tackle local development objectives. Her interim process evaluation both quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated the current performance of LEADER, and where relevant supplied recommendations about how to best improve LEADER in the forthcoming months. Eva held focus groups in four different LEADER regions - Outer Hebrides, Highlands, Rural Perth and Kinross and Dumfries and Galloway. This yielded some interesting insight in to the economic, social, cultural and environmental impact of the LEADER programme on Scottish Rural Communities. To view Eva's presentation, click here.
EPRC would like to thank Dr Eva Kleinert for sharing her very interesting and insightful evaluation, which led to a very lively discussion amongst the participants in both EPRC Glasgow and EPRC Delft in the Netherlands.
