Dr. Carlos Mendez was the keynote speaker at the second annual conference of the EU Horizon 2020 project RELOCAL - Resituating the Local and in Cohesion and Territorial Development. Hosted by the University of Lodz, the project Conference ‘The Role of the Local in Improving Cohesion and Spatial Justice: Integrating place-based with top-down approaches to local development’ took place on 7 March 2019 at the Lodz Agency for Regional Development in Poland.
Carlos’ keynote address on ‘Cohesion Policy Communicative Action and the Public Sphere’ shared results from the COHESIFY project on public perceptions of EU Cohesion policy, media discourse and how to improve the communication of the policy in order to reconnect citizens with the EU.
In the closing panel debate, Carlos Mendez discussed the opportunities and challenges for spatial justice in the EU arising from the reform of Cohesion Policy for 2021-2027.
