Last week, EPRC's 2019 European Policy Seminar Series resumed with Professor Ekaterina Domorenok from the University of Padua who presented her fourth monograph entitiled 'Governing Sustainability in the EU'.
Ekaterina Domorenok is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Padua where she teaches:
· Governance of sustainable development policies
· EU policy design and implementation
· Sustainability policies
Her research interests focus on issues related to the policy design, implementation and learning in multi-level settings, with particular regard to European Union policies for climate, sustainability, environment and cohesion.
'Governing Sustainability in the EU' discusses recent novelties in the EU agenda for sustainable development and illustrates how the process of policy change has occurred in terms of general priorities, specific objectives and policy instruments. Ekaterina looks at practical experiences from Italy and the UK to illustrate the evolution of the principle of policy integration and its implementation across three policy areas - energy efficiency, innovation and regional development.
EPRC would like to thank Professor Ekaterina Domorenok for sharing her excellent work, which resulted in an interactive and thought-provoking discussion in the second half of the seminar about barriers, environmental benefits and future recommendations for sustainability policy.
