On Wednesday 15 February, at 12-1pm, Dr Alasdair Rae, an urban and regional data analyst, with a PhD on regional economic development projects in North West England, presented his most recent work focuses on the manipulation, analysis and visualisation of large geographic datasets in relation to regions, cities, neighbourhoods, transport and economic development.
His recent study, with Garrett Dash Nelson, focused on the analysis of US megaregions, and was widely covered in the news media. More generally, he is a proponent of open data and open source software and seeks to make use of the wide range of new datasets that have become available in recent years; always with the aim of answering important underlying questions.
