EPRC is a partner in the Horizon2020 project TRACER, which supports nine coal-intensive regions to transition to sustainable energy systems. In the last year, it has delivered substantial results, while consultations and dialogues in the regions are ongoing.
2019 marked the start of Europe’s ambition to become the world’s first climate-neutral continent. Renewable energy use is rapidly growing and decarbonisation is now at the core of national energy policy strategies. The phase-out of fossil fuels particularly affects coal-producing regions and has put energy transition firmly on the regional policy agenda.
The 40th anniversary EoRPA conference took place in Scotland House, Brussels on the 9th of October, 2019. Several guest speakers presented talks on regional policy in the current day and the some of the challenges it faces.
